Albania: street preaching and openness

"I have never before seen such openness for the gospel in Albania as now," says one missionary. "It is quite visible which people have really became disciples and which not; in some towns, such as Kuchova, people go out on the street to preach. In other places, the Christians are hidden and almost sleeping."

Albania: blessing campaign

"A man one said: 'I've been looking for my enemy for many years, and have finally found him: he is me.' The situation in Albania starts in our own heart. Pyramid schemes, anarchy and corruption are only the consequences. We have to address the root of the problem, but have been fighting unrighteousness with unrighteousness. That's like trying to put out fires with gas."

"God has given us wonderful promises for the healing of our country, but there are conditions to be fulfilled: humility, prayer and repentance of our own sins. That's hard for our egos to accept. Cursing has become a national epidemic. 'Father in heaven, forgive us. Father, help us to find true peace. Help us to turn our curses into blessings. Let us begin a campaign of blessing.' May the Lord God give you this hope."

Brazil: football match delayed because the players wanted to be saved first

"Our football team in Uberlandia, Brazil," says Marcos Barros, "has an evangelistic football team. At every match, before the kick-off, they meet the opposing team in the middle of the field and give a testimony and a short word from the Bible, maybe sing a song, give every opponent a New Testament and invite them to become Christians. Only then can the game begin. A few weeks ago, in a small town near Uberlandia, the whole opposing team and referee, in tears, wanted to become Christians. A spectator became impatient, and wanted to know when the game would start, so also went out to the centre of the pitch. When one of the players told him what was happening, he also decided to be saved on the spot."

Brazil: eye-opening preaching

"In the midst of the sermon in the Alvorada Sal da Terra church in Uberlandia, Brazil, a blind woman started to shout 'I can see, I can see!' Nobody had been praying for the woman at the time - she was simply healed while listening to the sermon," says Marcos Barrios. "The church, started 4 years ago, has already grown so much that they will have to extend their building."

Brazil: woman healed of cancer of the liver - oil from heaven

Silvana was suffering from cancer of the liver in such an advanced stage that her skin smelled unpleasant. One day during a Christian retreat, she felt very ill and went to lie down. A man woke her up and gave her something to drink, telling her that she would soon feel better. She went back to sleep, and, as the man had said, felt better when she woke up. She looked for the man who had given her the drink, but could not find him. Nobody else at the retreat knew or had seen him either. Silvana has been completely healthy since then. A few days later, she was praying with some other Christians on the top of a hill, and felt as though something fell on her from the sky. Looking around to see what it was, she noticed that her hands were wet with something like oil. The other Christians were very surprised, particularly because the oil smelled very pleasant. Since then, the oil has appeared whenever Silvana has prayed for people, and there are reports that many have been healed.

Kuwait: 7-year-old sees Jesus and is healed

Babu Govind, who grew up in a Hin"du family, became a Christian in 1993. His 7-year-old son Ajith Babu was diagnosed as suffering from retinal pigmentation in December 1995 - he had completely lost the use of one eye, and could only see 30% with the other. Doctors had given up all hope. "As a family, we started praying intensely. On the fifth day, during our devotions shortly before midnight, my son saw Jesus come down to him in a fire, with angels standing on each side," he writes. "Jesus looked at Ajith and said 'Son, never sin.' Ajith then saw a dark, skeleton-like figure behind him, who quickly left because of Jesus' presence. Afterwards, my son was completely healed."

Zaire: pastor wins more than 6,500 pygmies for Jesus

A 61-year-old pastor recently led 6,695 people to Christ during a three-month trip to Zaire, according to the mission agency Every Home for Christ (EHC, Colorado Springs, USA). Pastor Bokese Bokonga built a boat and travelled up the Momboyo and Tshuapa rivers, then further by bicycle and on foot to take the gospel to the Nkundo and Gombe pygmies. EHC had supplied Bokonga with Bibles, study material and brochures for those who could read. The result is that five large Christian fellowships, or "Christ Groups" as EHC calls them, have been set up.
