Why do you believe what you believe? And what reasons do you have for your beliefs?
In talking with so many people, I have found that a lot of people are loyal to a belief system out of family or national loyalty. However, the truth about God doesn't depend on where you live. Also, that eternal truth does not depend on who came together to bring your life into existence, and what they believed!
Others just blindly follow what is convenient and promises short-term fulfilment. However, it really does matters what you believe in as far as eternity is concerned! It is going to affect others around you. Your example and influence affects others. Ultimately, if there is a God who will judge all men as the Bible teaches and our consciences witness to, then we MUST be prepared to face Him. To neglect this issue would be utter foolishness. Despite what some ignorant people say, the major religions in the world today are logically incompatible with each other on all the really important issues. Some or all of them must be wrong. Is it just possible that YOU are deceived? What makes you think your mind is so infallible, and millions of others are just so stupid as to not see the truth as you may claim to see it? If you don't care, you had better wake up!
Of course, if there is no God, and no world of spirits, as some assert - then we are alone to solve our problems on earth. And not only that, it turns out that we are then just molecular machines in the cosmos who ultimately have no significance or purpose. Any goals we may have must be purely arbitrary in the end if there is no God.
But as a Christian, I, and millions of others like me, believe that we are more than that. We are eternal beings. YOU will never cease to exist! Where your soul will be after you die is THE BIG QUESTION. What answer would you give?
Various religions give different answers. Is there any reason to believe that the Christian Answer is more worthy of our trust than those given be other religions and philosophies? We believe there are lots of them! Some can be found on this site.
